Voyager Medical Research ("VMR") changes the way surgery is performed by focusing on products that prevent serious post-surgical complications in the short and long term. Our immediate goal is to significantly reduce the incidence of Post-Operative Ventral Hernia (POVH) which occurs in 20% of every abdominal wall surgery leading to significant health problems and heavy economic burden to the healthcare system. Our first product is called VSS, a monofilament suture offering extended tensile strength of 4-5 months. This product offers a secure closure for the abdominal wall suitable for 80% of patients undergoing abdominal surgery. VSS will offer patients a significantly better clinical result but will not require hospitals to pay more than they already spend on surgical sutures.
