ThermoTrauma offers an innovative solution to combat hypothermia in the wounded: a patented Therm-Up® heated breastplate. Designed by Dr Thomas Spadoni (emergency physician) and Rémy Bergon (helicopter mechanic) in 2021 in Briançon. Franck Fauriel (ski patroller, sector manager) and Pierre Sévila (marketing) joined the adventure to develop this innovative device. ThermoTrauma is the result of their rescue experience. Combating hypothermia in accident victims is vital: if body temperature falls below 34°C, mortality is 30-50%. However, the resources currently used by rescue teams are inadequate. ThermoTrauma has developed a Therm-Up® heated chest protector that provides active warmth. More effective than a simple survival blanket, the breastplate is placed on the trunk and fits perfectly into the rescue sequence. Its batteries provide 4 to 6 hours' autonomy. The breastplate can be used by all first responders (Doctors, SAMU-SMUR, armed services, first-aiders, Red Cross...), in any terrain, in any weather. After three years of research, development and field testing, the breastplates are now in production in France, near Lyon, and available for purchase. The breastplate won two awards in 2023: - Innovation Prize at the French Fire Brigade Congress - 1st Prize in the Innovation Competition at the SFMU Congress (French Society of Firefighters).
