The LaunchPort™ is a manufacturing accelerator that allows Medtech start-ups and emerging technology developers the ability to co-locate at an experienced, regulated manufacturing center, and if they have the need, operate their own manufacturing cell while developing their local engineering and manufacturing staff. As part of that residency, they are allowed to tap into core services (e.g. financial operating systems, quality system development and management protocols & templates, logistics and purchasing support, regulatory compliance development, clinical trial and post-market Device History File management), while utilizing their capital resources on developing their critical core competencies under the tutelage of an experienced Medtech operation, operated by Engineered Medical Systems, Inc.
LaunchPort™ provides programming to assist in their further development: including development of improved business models based on extensive customer discovery, hands-on and applied mentoring in the establishment of crucial regulatory manufacturing and compliance skills, as well as tutelage about supply chain and sales channel development. The “Residents” of the program gain operational knowledge needed to move into a supply role in the Medtech community, and the location serves to support an applied training opportunity for biomedical/engineering interns from the region’s academic centers, as well as advancing new manufacturing skill development and human resources for the region.
The facility occupies approximately 15,000 square feet of assembly, engineering, clean room and office space that serves as a home base for the Residents.
