Superchromic lenses have been developed to appeal to a wide range of patients who are looking for an affordable photochromic lens upgrade that delivers comfort, convenience and protection but also offers fast fade back and excellent clarity indoors. After working in the optical industry for many years it became clear two key factors were affecting the growth potential of the market. Firstly premium photochromic lenses are being designed to get ever darker in high temperatures and in doing so manufacturers were prepared to sacrifice fade back speed and sensitivity to changes in outdoor light conditions even though many patients were looking for faster fading lenses and more active change in tint when outside. Secondly the significant upcharge from clear single vision lenses to photochromic single vision is discouraging patients to upgrade. The market is missing an affordable but branded photochromic lens that could help re-connect single vision wearers with the benefits of photochromic lenses. Superchromic Eyewear was created to offer branded products that would allow more patients to experience the benefits of photochromic lenses.
