New Born Solutions is a medical device company developing innovative equipment for quick detection of superficial body fluid infections in a non-invasively way by means of high frequency ultrasound technology.

Our current focus is on infant meningitis. Since the immune system of the patient is at an early stage, the body is highly vulnerable to infection, therefore a quick detection of infection can be critical. In the current practice, increased cerebrospinal fluid white blood cell count obtained through lumbar puncture immediately triggers medication irrespective of diagnostic bacteriologic results.

The Neosonics is a sophisticated precision-engineering system using high-frequency ultrasound to non-invasively count white blood cell in the cerebrospinal fluid below the infant fontanel, the region of the head where the bones are not yet closed.

Developed in collaboration with CSIC, Stimulo Design, Beta Robots and Eneso, the Neosonics pretends to be a game changer when it comes to infant meningitis screening protocol.

However, our aim is to target all these superficial body fluids infections in which the screening method requires a puncture (peritonitis, arthritis, pleuritis, chorioamnionitis, etc.).

New Born Solutions has been awarded with grants from Catalonia (Startup Capital), Spain (Neotec) and EU (SME Instrument Phase 1, EIT Headstart). These grants are not only a reflection of the support the project is receiving globally, but also an encouraging recognition to our work.
