Ischemic stroke is caused by a blockage in the blood vessels supplying the brain. Without blood flow, a deficit of nutrients builds up in tissue progressively, leading to an expanding area of irreparable damage. Treatment is a race against time. Every minute of delay before treatment could mean the difference between a return to normal life or a lifetime of disability.
NeuraStasis is developing a pause button for stroke patients. The proprietary noninvasive technology activates the body’s innate oxygen-preserving and anti-inflammatory reflexes to preserve brain tissue, giving providers more time to act.
