We at MitralCord aim for the future ‘gold standard’ first intervention treatment for one of the major human heart problems, affecting millions of people around the world – the mitral valve regurgitation (MR).

We are doing so by developing an innovative & elegant minimal invasive “place & forget” trans-septal chord repair solution, performed on a beating heart, which will eliminate the need and risks of open surgery, and enable medical treatment for millions of patients which are currently untreatable.

Our solution imitates past-proven surgical ‘gold standard’ into a future minimal invasive & very short procedure, is based on standard cardiac procedures and materials, and will enable a minimal hospitalization period and short patient recovery time, thus immediately improving the well-being and quality of life of the patient .

After several years of development, a transapical version was successfully developed and tested in animal pre-clinical studies, with a 3-month follow-up.
Then, based upon the proven assets, a first transseptal prototype was developed, in the path for design freeze.

The company was founded in 2012 by Dr. Igal Kushnir (MD) and Alon Kushnir, two entrepreneurs with many years of experience in the medical device sector and innovative medical solutions.

The company’s CEO is Moshik Aharoni, who joined the team after more than 22 years in the Israeli Air Force as a senior technological executive & engineer and led ground breaking technological programs and R&D efforts.
