Medical Device Manufacturing Centre

The Medical Device Manufacturing Centre (MDMC) is a collaborative initiative based in Scotland, headquartered at Heriot-Watt University. Established in 2020 with funding from the Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund, MDMC aims to enhance the Scottish biomedical sector by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing and producing medical devices essential for clinical care. MDMC provides free expert advice and technical support to Scottish medical device companies. Their services include guidance on manufacturing, engineering, regulatory compliance, funding, sustainability, and clinical trial design. The centre also offers access to advanced manufacturing equipment and health informatics, fostering collaboration with the NHS and clinical experts. With a team of engineers, scientists, and clinicians from partner universities, MDMC has assisted over 100 SMEs, helping them accelerate product development from concept to commercialisation.
