The Mathys Group has more than 500 employees operating worldwide with a common goal in preserving motion through innovative and clinically proven implants: founded in 1946 and active in the medical technology sector since 1958, Mathys develops, produces and distributes products for artificial joint replacement, synthetic bone graft substitute and sports medicine, building up in the process a strong legacy of producing and delivering progressive, clinically proven implants. More recently In 2012, under the lead of a research group of the two Bernese hospitals Sonnenhof AG Bern and Inselspital, Mathys Ltd Bettlach developed a new method for treating a freshly ruptured cruciate ligament. With the Ligamys implant, the ruptured anterior cruciate ligament can be preserved, which enables the possibility of regeneration. The implant meets the company’s philosophy “preservation in motion” which stands for maintaining the natural anatomy and accelerating innovative developments for the purpose of mobility.
Our proven products and our passion for innovation have brought us from a small business to a globally operating Swiss family company – today, we are one of the leading European developers and producers in orthopaedics.
