EFI (Endoscopic Force-reflecting Instruments) develops and markets a new endoscopic grasper instrument offering haptic feedback to surgeons for minimal invasive surgery. By applying state of the art optical sensor technology we can translate the visco-elastic tissue feeling in the grasper tip back into the trigger of the instrument for more controlled and safer tissue manipulation.
Michel Vleugels MD PhD founder of EFI and pioneer in minimal invasive surgery in the Netherlands acknowledged the lack of tissue feeling when he moved from open surgery to minimal invasive surgery. By combining optical sensor technology with force feedback EFI can now offer remote feeling.
