About
Dragonfleye's mission is to preserve and restore vision and improve quality of life for patients with retinal and other ophthalmic conditions by pioneering minimally invasive suprachoroidal and subretinal fluid delivery devices and therapies. Current routes of drug delivery to the eye can be indirect, invasive, or non-targeted, resulting in reduced efficacy, reduced access, and increased patient burden. Dragonfleye has created a minimally invasive platform for targeted delivery of fluids to the suprachoroidal and subretinal spaces using a novel transscleral approach. This proprietary platform has a side-firing configuration to access a wider range of locations around the eye, an integrated guidelight to ensure correct positioning, high precision controls to advance the needle through the sclera and deliver the treatment fluid directly to the target location, and motorized injection for accurate volume control and handling stability with all fluid viscosities. Dragonfleye reduces procedural complexity, risk of complication, recovery time, and healthcare costs while enhancing patient outcomes. Our first target application is the repair of retinal detachment using our suprachoroidal viscopexy™ (SCVEXY™) device and technique which creates a suprachoroidal viscoelastic buckle, closes the retinal break, and allows the retina to reattach in a more natural manner. This approach can reduce the need for vitrectomy (or any invasive surgery), avoid large gas tamponades (or any gas), bypass iatrogenic movement of subretinal fluid, circumvent 'forced' rapid reattachment (and air-fluid exchange), and shorten time-to-treatment (by being able to perform in-office). Importantly, the mechanism of action leads to a better integrity of attachment. Dragonfleye is also actively developing drug and other therapeutic fluid delivery solutions for a range of ophthalmic conditions using our platform.
