In the global era, the Ministry of Health has anticipated globalization in the health sector with the issuance of Law No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health, and Law No. 44 of 2009 concerning Hospitals, along with operational policies under them. The Ministry of Health realizes with the direction of national policies and strategies, one of which is to improve health services that are equitable, affordable, quality, and equitable, as well as evidence-based: by prioritizing promotive and reventive efforts. With strategic targets, among others, to increase the health services of internationally accredited hospitals in at least 5 cities in Indonesia with a target of cities in 2012 and 5 cities in 2014. Performance indicators to realize this strategy include: Having 5 world-class standard hospitals, 90% accredited hospitals, 65% hospitals carrying out medical technicalities according to standards, 95% of Medical Devices and PKRT meet safety and quality requirements.
